How Alloy Artist Residence was born…

After years of planning and travelling around the world, I came up with an idea for an Artist Residence.

I participated in several Artist Residencies and also visited unique Youth Hostels, shared spaces, and small hotels, in Osaka, Tbilisi, Riga, Medellín, Luštica Bay, and other interesting locales.

After a lot of exploration, I had a better idea of the space I wanted to create.

The need for shared art studios and a place to “disconnect” from stress, became more apparent after the pandemic.

I started imagining where I wanted to create this space, and Portugal is the only place that inspired me to do this.

The only other big obstacles to doing this required me to learn Portuguese, figure out a way to get Portuguese Residency, and move to Portugal.

Once that was done, everything else became a reality.
